I have decorated my blog with the mushed up cookie face of my pride and joy.
Meet Lucas, he's one year old! What a fun age that is too! My oh my...he certainly keeps me on my toes. He isn't quite talking, but he can sure babble up a storm. I swear, when they turn one, it's as though the terrible twos are here now! The temper tantrums, getting mad at the world, you name it. He is VERY expressive...a tad bit of a drama 'king'.
A couple of months ago he was going through a phase where it was next to impossible to change his diaper. For one, he started crawling, so the second ANYONE took away his freedom, he had issues with you. Both of us had to tackle that slippery little monster and pin down each of his flailing limbs. One had to occupy his upper half with a toy or something, while the other rushed to change his bum before he remembered what was going on. It wasn't easy, but we did it! Now he's figured out that the more he complies, the faster it gets done and he can be off to play.
Now, his big thing is to push every button possible on the Mommy & Daddy. For instance, he decided while on a trek down the hallway, he wanted to play with these neat little things stuck into the wall called nightlights. Well, the second he becomes TOO quiet, I look to see what he may be into, and sure enough it had one of them out of the wall and was going for the other one. Well, I instantly yelled out "NO!" and I think he crapped himself, I scared him so bad. He jumped up and immediately crawled off into his room and cried. I had to take a second to compose myself because the look on his face was one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. I then went into his room after him and tried to explain how he can get hurt, etc...I don't think he cared much about that because it didn't take him long to go back for more. I yelled again and he crawled off and cried again. THEN he decides to flash me this adorable face, thinking that it will make it all better....little bugger, it worked!
He has continued to push the buttons and flash the smile...and I have to walk away. The smile he flashes melts my heart and makes it so VERY hard to be mad at. Not that I would stay mad at him, but for the moment when you are trying to be serious and show authority...forget it.
The are the bosses...let's face it. We may be bigger, but it is THEY who hold the power. Especially at this age.
