#3

Well, it finally arrived. Tooth #3!

The tooth I have been impatiently waiting for (it was causing him some grief) has finally made it's debut, making Lucas look more and more like a troll everyday. A cute troll that is - one of the cutest I have ever met. Thinking about how he will look in the next few days is kinda funny to me. Does anyone remember 'Sloth' from the Goonies? Nuff said.

Lucas is getting closer and closer to walking now. It's almost annoying how close he is too, because he will stand up and reach as far as he can to grab something, while still hanging on to a table or chair by a fingertip, but won't take the steps to get it. He would rather take the time to get down, crawl over and stand back up again instead of taking the two steps to get there. In time...I guess I have to be more patient...Grrrr!

I just find it funny how they take the long road instead of the shortcuts. They take their time doing things. Maybe that's where the phrase "Stop and Smell the Roses" came about, or maybe it's because us "grown-ups" are just plain lazy and will find shortcuts to everything possible. The things you learn from kids...I guess they really DO know what they are doing after all, and WE are the ones who need to take a few lessons from THEM.

They are so innocent. I wish I were that pure again.

I try my best to live by the Peter Pan theory...I don't want to grow up. Well, at least not completely. As we get older, we have responsibilities and all that jazz, but do we have to drop ALL of our innocense in the process? Personally, I don't think so. Take a few hours and go to a park or a beach...wherever kids rule the Earth most and watch how they play. Better yet, take a few minutes out of your day and PLAY WITH THEM! Don't be afraid...DIRT WASHES OUT! Let them introduce you to their "imaginary friends", build a fort, make mud pies, learn the many uses of a jump rope. It's amazing how kids view what we see as ordinary 'one or two purpose items' and turn them into something out of this world. Take for example, a mop. We see this as something to wash the floor with, where kids will use it to prop up their fort in the dining room, or as a microphone stand while performing concerts for their parents, etc...

We all have imaginations. The only difference is, they use theirs.
